Jamaican Creole is now being taught in a couple universities abroad because 'things Jamaican' and Jamaican cultural products are at a high value point outside of Jamaica. Our culture (music, dance, language, cuisine) is very attractive and some aspects of it are being traded and appropriated in different ways by different people.

After residing in New York for many years, K Vibes decided to make a move to her favorite place and homeland.
She has found much success in New York with a hit single on the Foundation Network chart in both New York and Florida.
All of the songs that made her known for the artist she is and her growing popularity were produced and released out of Jamaica. Reggae Music ( I Am) produced by KING JAMMY'S went #1 for several weeks on the Foundation Network charts in N.Y,  then in Florida on the top 11 WAVS chart. She is better know for her smash single out of the Studio One Vaults titled "Frenemies", a soundclash favorite on the Tonight Riddim which gained her many European fans, especially in France.
Just about every riddim she touches is a killer instrumental such as the Cheater Riddim on Clive Chins's Impact label titled TIME. The Brick Rose is no newcomer and has earned her dues in New York.
"Time for a better natural living" she says. Where else can I  live true Reggae while hanging out with the like of legends like Johnny Clarke, Kiddus I, Chinna Smith, General Trees ".
I am not abandoning NY it holds a lot of great memories for me. Memories like learning how to juggle vinyl and microphone on sound system with the men. President Street and Rogers avenue, that was my stomping ground and the beginning of dancehall mania for me. 
Jamaica is also my home and the vibes are more free. It is hard for female artists to make it in this business. So I have to be Brick and Rose to get the mission done. Jamaica is nothing new for me,
I have been traveling between Jamaica and NY for years. This time it is just more permanent, whatever the outcome of my music career".
K Vibes new album ROSE AMONG THORNS  on the Chain Gang label produced by Owen Flynn is a mix of Reggae, Dancehall, Ska, Culture and Gospel. In the past K Vibes/Brick Rose has celebrated her birthday royally with special guests like BUSHMAN,SISTER CAROL, CHUCK TURNER and many more to name a few. K Vibes recorded her song "Frenemies" in 1998. It was first released by Coxsone Dodd on 7" in vinyl in 2001 then re-issued on vinyl again in 2012. This song is now featured on "The Sound of Young Jamaica", 50 Top Studio One Hits.
